Advanced Healthcare Directive

Having an Advanced Healthcare Directive in place is important if you ever need serious medical care.  You can identify individuals that you would like to have access to you, like an adult children and anyone that is not your spouse, or parent if you are a minor.

With the laws concerning medical treatment and privacy, unnecessary turmoil can be added to an already stressful family event, such as hospitalization or having to make end of life support decisions, if you haven't planned ahead.

Running into red tape when trying to get a parent's, sibling's or adult-child's medical status, or trying to make difficult medical decisions for an adult loved one without the proper documents, allowing medical providers to communicate and work with you, adds additional stress during an already chaotic and possibly tragic time.

You can help your loved ones avoid this, and you can make decisions for yourself in advance, or designate the person or people you would like to make decisions for you ahead of time, giving you a say in what happens to you when you would not have control otherwise.
